Reserves can be searched by course or resource title, instructor name, department, or course code. Please reach out with any questions or issues.
Items on reserve are library materials that are required reading, as established by the course instructor. All reserve items are located behind the circulation desk in Shain Library and may be checked out upon request. Checkout times range from two hours to one week, and are determined by the course instructor.
To check out an item on reserve:
At the circulation desk, ask to check out a reserve item. You will need to know one of the following:
Resource title (example: Frank Sinatra and popular culture : essays on an American icon)
Instructor's name
Name of course (example: States and Markets in East Asia)
Department (Psychology, etc.)
Course code (example: HMD-111 or NEU-314)
You may need to know the section number (e.g. HMD-111-1, HMD-111-2, HMD-111-3, etc.) if there are multiple sections of a course with different professors
If unsure of whether or not there are materials on reserve for a course, please ask! Everyone at the circulation desk is happy to help and will convey inquiries about requested-but-unavailable- course materials to the appropriate instructor or library staff member.
Library staff can easily answer questions about check out times for different items on reserve, and due dates and times for checked out reserve items will be aslo conveyed upon check out.
