Under Creative Commons (CC), the terms “collections” and “remixes/adapted works/derivative works” refer to different ways that works can be assembled or transformed. A collection gathers together pre-existing, unmodified works (each keeping its original license), a remix/adapted work/derivative work involves transforming or combining elements of one or more CC-licensed works to create something new—often subject to the same licensing conditions as the originals.
