What is ARTstor?

The ARTstor Digital Library is a nonprofit resource that provides millions of digital images in the arts, architecture, humanities, and social sciences. The community-built collections comprise contributions from outstanding international museums, photographers, libraries, scholars, photo archives, and artists and artists' estates.

Access ARTstor and Create Account

  1. Access ARTstor using this link, or through the list of databases on the library's website.
     
  2. Log in to or Register for an ARTstor account (Note: this is separate from your Conn College account) by selecting the appropriate link at the top right.

     
  3. If logging in, use your ARTstor credentials.  If registering, fill out the registration form and click "Submit."  Note and save your login information.

Find Images

Once logged in, from the homepage you can search or browse the Artstor Digital Library. Browse by classification or geography, enter keywords into the search box, or conduct an advanced search with several identifying pieces of information.

Save, Share, and Print Images

To enlarge, zoom in, print or save an image from the thumbnail, click an image thumbnail to view it in the Image Viewer.

  1. Zoom and pan: The group of icons in the upper left-hand corner of an image  will allow you to zoom in and out, reset the view, and enter full-screen mode.
     
  2. Save, Share, and Print: Use the buttons to the right of the image to add the image to image groups you create, to download a JPEG file of the image, to copy a citation for a the image, to generate a print-out of the image (click Print Preview, then CONTROL + P on your Windows keyboard or COMMAND + P on your Mac keyboard), and to copy the stable URL for hyperlinking to this image.
