The U.S. Senate has 51 Democrats (including three independents) and 49 Republicans. There are 34 seats up in 2024 - including a special election in Nebraska - of which 23 are held by Democrats or Independents.
The biennial election for representatives from all 435 Congressional Districts will take place on November 5, 2024. The Republican Party currently controls the U.S. House, where 218 seats are needed for a majority (when there are no vacancies).
The nation’s governorships are nearly evenly split between the two parties, with 26 Republicans and 24 Democrats holding office. Three states - Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi - will hold gubernatorial elections in 2023. Another 11 states follow in 2024.
