This is the last Course Design Series talk of the 2024/2025 year from the Learning Design Group. As described by presenter Chris Ostro...
"Over the past few years I've seen faculty and staff in Higher Ed break into different camps of "resistors" and "early adopters" of AI, but tons of faculty are still sitting this one out, waiting for something clear to come along and give them direction. I have long thought that we're all grieving, and we have TONS to grieve! This talk is my attempt to get those people off the sidelines, as well as to bridge the gap between resistors and adopters, at least a bit.
In this talk we give a workable definition of "engagement" that both resistors and adopters can *hopefully* appreciate, and we take some time to acknowledge and explore the grief we're feeling about AI in education. Our jobs have changed PROFOUNDLY in the past few years. After that we deep dive the most common fears and anxieties we've heard from faculty, and end by highlighting the opportunities that exist in the classroom today and exploring some next steps for those just getting started."
