Because the field of Africana Studies encompasses a wide range of disciplines, the resources in this guide are intended to provide a rough outline of the diverse resources the library provides to support research across continental Africa, the African diaspora, and around issues of Blackness in general.
Around 2016, the Sankofa bird was adopted as the Africana logo at Connecticut College. Sankofa is a word of Ghanaian origin meaning to ‘go back and get it,’ suggesting that you need to look to the past and address it in the present to create a better future.
