AFRICAN STUDIES

INTRODUCTION

Because the field of African Studies encompasses a wide range of disciplines, the resources in this guide are of a general nature, including, for the most part, materials covering the entire continent or large areas of Africa, (although most of the materials will lead to resources on specific countries).  For more detailed analysis of Africa within a variety of disciplines, consult the subject guides for those disciplines on the library’s web site, “Subject Guides.”  Some examples include:  Anthropology, Art & Art History, Biology, Dance, Economics, Environmental Studies, Gender & Women’s Studies, Government, History, Human Development, Music, Psychology, Religion, and Theater.
